Assertiveness is standing up for your right to be treated fairly. It is expressing your opinions, needs, and feelings, without ignoring or hurting the opinions, needs, and feelings of others.
Self-esteem is how we value ourselves. How we perceive our value to the world and how valuable we think we are to others. Self-esteem affects our trust in others, our relationships, and our work – nearly every part of our lives. Positive self-esteem gives us the strength and flexibility to take charge of our lives and grow from our mistakes without the fear of rejection.
Who is this course for?
A one day workshop for therapists who wish to explore their own level of self-esteem and assertiveness as well as discovering how to help their clients with these issues.
What you will learn:
· What is self-esteem? How is it eroded?
· What is assertiveness?
· How do I become more assertive in my life?
· How can I build up my self-esteem?
· How can I help my clients with issues of low self-esteem?
· How can I help my clients become assertive in order to lead more fulfilling lives?
We hope to understand how our own experiences have moulded us to be the person we have become, and therefore, be able to help our Clients in the same way.
As we know our early life experiences, our pasts, are always playing out in our present, it affects how we perceive and then react to the world and the people in it.
At ‘Gold’ we are offering an experiential day of sharing and looking at our own wounds to be able to help others do the same.
The day will offer insight to ourselves, as well as learning strategies to help our Clients to look at their difficult past experiences and perhaps make more sense of them. We can escape our negative experiences by understanding them better ‘To help us on the way to become the person we should have always been’.
During the day there will be a variety of experiential exercises and opportunities to share your personal stories in a safe, confidential, and supportive atmosphere.
You will leave feeling more aware of yourself and with tools and techniques to use with clients to explore their self-esteem and assertiveness skills.
