Experienced Counsellor, Reg MBACP, Tutor and Supervisor

Lorraine is a qualified and highly experienced counsellor and is registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.

She has a busy private practice as well as working with foster agencies, voluntary sector providers, local authority projects, private schools and charities.
Her NHS accredited training has provided her with a well rounded counselling qualification enabling her to draw on a range of therapeutic modalities (e.g. humanistic, psychodynamic theory, CBT and Gestalt) with the relationship between therapist and client being at the core.

Lorraine has worked in a variety of settings and client groups adopting either a time-limited framework working on a specific difficulty or working over a longer period of time on a range of difficulties. She has specialised training in working with teenagers, parenting issues and parent/child relationships.

She also provides training in areas such as confidence and low self-esteem, assertiveness, self-care and building better communication.

Lorraine creates a space in which you feel understood, listened to, and not judged. She believes that establishing a therapeutic relationship in which a client can feel safe is the cornerstone to her work and believes this is fundamental in the process of change and ultimately to feeling happier!

She is passionate about helping clients to reach their full potential in life and realise their own inner strength and resilience.

Lorraine works with adults, couples, groups, teenagers, and children.

Supervision

Whether you are a counsellor, student counsellor, nurse, teacher, coach, mentor, youth worker, police officer, or helpline volunteer, you are helping other people which in turn will have an impact on you.

“When you walk in other people’s water you will get wet!”…. so sharing your thoughts and feelings with a supervisor helps manage the impact of such demanding emotional work and encourages good self-care.

Supervision allows you to reflect on your work with both yourself and your supervisor playing an active role. Lorraine knows what it is like to be a supervisee and understands how to use her own supervision well. Using her ability to create a safe, supportive yet challenging working alliance, Lorraine will help her supervisees to grow, develop, learn and cope with the often difficult emotions involved in the caring professions.

Lorraine is kind, approachable, professional and possesses a great sense of humour!
